MELODING uses four cookies, plus one that remembers your language. They are all ours: there are no third-party cookies installed here to watch you.

We use no advertising cookies. There are no ad networks on the site, we do not build profiles for advertisers, and we do not follow you around other websites after you leave.

mel_guest. Identifies you anonymously while you create your song, so the site knows your conversation and your song are yours. It is httpOnly, so no browser script can read it. Category: strictly necessary. The service does not work without it.

mel_country. Stores the country you pick by hand, so we can show you the right genre catalogue and the right prices. Category: functional.

NEXT_LOCALE. Remembers the language you want to read the site in. It is used by next-intl, the localisation library we rely on. Category: functional.

mel_attr. Created only if you reach the site through a link carrying campaign tags such as utm_source. In that case it stores those tags, the date, and the landing page, so we know which channel brought your visit. It is httpOnly and first-party, written once, and lasts 180 days. It is not shared with advertisers. If the link you arrived through had no such tags, this cookie is never created. Category: attribution, meaning our own measurement of our own campaigns.

mel_guest is indispensable for providing the service, and mel_country and NEXT_LOCALE store preferences you choose yourself. All three are exempt from prior consent.

mel_attr only measures where your visit came from, is first-party, and feeds no advertising profile and no third party. You can delete it from your browser at any time, and if you would rather it never be created, come to the site through a clean link with no utm tags.

Besides cookies, the site uses your browser's session storage for temporary state while you create your song: whether you already saw a notice, the genre you were looking at, or whether sound is on.

Those are not cookies, they do not travel with every request to the server, and they are cleared on their own when you close the tab.

Your browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies for any site, including this one. Look in its privacy settings.

If you block or delete mel_guest, you will lose access to a song in progress, because that is the cookie that tells us the song is yours.
